I'm happy that this person was able to get some video as my attempt failed horribly in the mosh and initial crowd surge. The audio here doesn't do any justice to the performance however. Being 40 ft. from the stage at center and for it being an outdoor festival stage, which had an estimated 25 thousand people surrounding it during The Replacements' show, I had never heard music this crazy loud and at such a high quality before. The mix was perfect; the bass and kick hit the marrow and literally made my heart skip, the mids were well defined, and the highs were well tapered down yet very crisp. Plus, Paul only forgot the lyrics maybe twice due to some improve and horseplay/enthusiasm. The Replacements really brought it and left it all on the stage at this one and I hope they can continue to do so, it's been a long 22 years without them around!
I forgot to mention, a long time ago... A lot of performers at Riot Fest also wanted so badly to see The Mats play. We saw Keanu Reeves head-banging at the side of the stage that night, big fan of The Mats, and if you notice around 1:24 on "Left Of The Dial" that's J Mascis right behind Paul under the tent. J played the day before and I had never seen someone so surrounded, almost 360, by Marshall full-stacks while playing guitar like J was, and I've seen the REAL Guns N' Roses live, sorry Tommy!
