Willie Nelson photo set from WhiteWater Amphitheater; New Braunfels, TX. 4/16/2016

The original bill for the three day event, RIP Merle. Lots of tears in the crowd and even the sky was crying. Sunday night 4/17 was cancelled due to severe weather. Quote of the evening I overheard from someone in the audience: "What's there to complain about?" "You're an American in Texas at a Willie Nelson concert!"

Another great night in Austin, TX. Redd Volkaert @ The Continental Club 4/9/2016

Another great night in Austin, TX. Redd Volkaert @ The Continental Club during The Lonestar Round Up hot rod show, which completely takes over South Congress. It was a party alright! Back in 1955 The Continental Club wanted to blend country music culture with hot rod culture. It seems to have worked out and played nice together just fine. Last night Redd mentioned to me that Lee's Liquor Lounge in Mpls. was the "cleanest" club he has ever played. He liked that they polished the dance floor every night as well. So, we have that going for us Mpls.! Aside from his solo and teaching career, Redd has appeared on seven of Merle Haggard's albums and one of Brad Paisley's, among many others. I'm currently in class with Brad's niece and with the recent death of Merle, and with of course the hot rod show, it was a special night to see Redd play at the "CBGB of Austin". That's how I like to think of the place at least. It's pretty sticky in there too. I took a shower when I got home. Perhaps Redd is right about Lee's after all!
